What are the top d2 distance teams in terms of developing athletes into contender to make nationals? Wondering because I’m looking at going d2.

Check the results of XC. They are almost the same every year. Adams, Grand Valley, Mines, Western, Chico, Mt. Olive, Queens, Southern Indiana, etc... Adams generally gets some better talent because of who they are, but Baltes over at Grand Valley has a recruiting 3200 ave of 9:30 on any given year and every single year they have some new low 14s guys. But there's a reason that these programs (and there are some others that make appearances near the top like Pomono and Anchorage and Western Washington and now Western Oregon and CSU-Pueblo have really been getting more competitive the last 5 years) are constantly near the top year after year: because they get new guys every year and keep the ball rolling with making different guys good.
FRANKLIN PIERCE BECAUSe THEY ALWAYS WIN!!!!!!!

“Develops” talent, not “recruits” talent.
OP: I don’t know, but I am following.
What are more interested in? Mile/5k or 5k/10k?
For mile/3k I'd argue Adams State, Western State, CSU Pueblo, Western Oregon (I mean David Ribich & Nading are monsters), Fort Hays State and Queens NC
For 5k/10k I'd argue Adams State (all round program), Grand Valley, Mt. Olive, Colorado School of Mines and Chico State.
These lists are just based on my own opinions.
Look at Missouri Southern State.
A brother of one of my teammates went there and developed fairly quickly and has now transferred to a nationally ranked D1 school.
Mines and Western

We can't really give you an answer on who would be realistic for you if we don't know your times.

Franklin Pierce is an absolute joke for distance lmao.
Got 5th at northeast regionals and 7th at NE10 championship
They do have an excellent mid d program though.
Adams State has a 24% graduation rate. WTF would any parent want their child to go to Adams State?

Yea I’d agree for most part. You also have to look in to whether it’s right training for you. Adams, high volume high intensity only catering to top guys, better hope you adjust to altitude quickly. Grand valley lots of numbers. Kids develop well with chance of injury also a high mileage program. Mt olive tends to go international throwing a ton of mileage at kids. Mines very smart engineering school ? also high mileage with a team that’s big time grinders. Tbh not sure about Chico’s structure but can’t deny Townes results. Queens mainly international kids. Hays usually only has one or two good kids. Western, will be interesting to see how they move forward as a team.
What area of the country?
The initial question is an immature one. It shouldn’t matter what division you run at. Sounds like somebody who wants to say they received some type of scholarship. Pick an area and type of school.

Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
