Next week I start training for my 3rd marathon this fall. Using Pfitz 18/55. My weekly mileage right now is in the 35-40mpw range. BQ is the ultimate goal, but doesn't have to be this race.
Recent races-
1/2 marathon in May- 1:47
10K in May- 46:30
10 miles- 1:17
5k PR- 21:28 last year
Prior marathons-
2014- 3:58 on 25ish miles/week
2015- 3:50 on 30ish miles/week
I know my past marathons were on low mileage. My plan has been to build a base on easy miles, and most of my runs are in the 9:30 range. But I'm not sure if this is a good pace for me for most of my easy runs? I will of course do marathon pace runs, LT, and VO2 max runs in my training plan. Should I be using my goal pace of 8:15 based on my shorter races, which will get me a BQ, or should I have a goal pace of 8:30, more like what my half marathon time suggests? I know I have speed/lack endurance, but I'm hoping my training cycle and consistently higher mileage will help that.
I'm not asking what pace to run the marathon, I'm more looking at training paces and then I will re-evaluate after my fall half marathon.
37/F, BQ time 3:40 (aiming for 3:36)
