I think yes, at least on the boys side.
What are the stats on men like Lyles and Bolt that run world class times at a young age as far as championship success?
Hoping history doesn't repeat itself.
First it was Blake, then De Grasse, then Bromell, then Coleman, then Baker, now Lyles?? Wait until these athletes have at least 2 years of consistency before annoiting them as the “next face of track and field.”
Lots of candidates for that position right now. Lyles has already been successful in the professional ranks as has Coleman and Michael Norman is rolling. But outside of the three mentioned in the article, Fred Kerley could make that leap and if Rai Benjamin gets his national eligibility figured out and then takes .25 off of his PR, that would garner consideration. My money is on Norman though as the 400m is just a more glamorous event than the 200m.
The other side to consider is Sydney McLaughlin as track and field is a sport not opposed to having a woman as the face of the sport.
This kid is the future of running, not just track and field - he's poised to dominate through 2028 or beyond.
And obviously sydney mclaughlin on the women's side - both of these athletes are ridiculously marketable and are poised to make crazy $$ - crazy $$ for track or road running athletes that is.
the thing that Noah has which none of the other have is the charisma. Like Bolt, hes seen dancing around after his victories, hes confident but not too arrogant, hes charming on camera, and is personable and open in interviews. Not to mention hes dumb fast at his age and can handle pressure.
The only other athlete who really comes close in terms of all those qualities is Sydney, but youre much less likely to see her dancing around after races and hyping up the crowd. Its probably because she runs the 400m and 400m hurdles, two races which tire you out far more then the 100m and 200m Noah runs.
What's new about this? Old news. We've already seen a 9.45 in the real world. J GAT.
Micheal MF Norman!
Omar McLeod
Noah could be...he has all the prerequisites.... we got a look at his future the first or second year we took a CSI/NSAF team to Havana when he was a junior in HS.....by the way, on that team and on the 4x100m relay, were Noah, Josephus his brother, Ryan Clark AND Grant Holloway! Yes, they won the relay at the Barrientos meet in 40 flat after 20 minutes of baton practice!
No, it will be Sydney McLaughlin.
