Messi
Knight since Ches will still be a man without a country

CHELIMO, son. Say it
Cheptegei
Neither, it will be Ingebritsen on the podium!
GRANT FISHER
I'll take a random Kenyan or Ethiopian that does not burst onto the scene until 2019, at the earliest.

Op said medal, not win. Perhaps the question could be "Which recent NCAA runner will place highest in the 2020 Olympic 5k"?

eh, the Ethiopian team seems to be fairly stable year over year....Barega, Edris and Kejelcha seem like a good bet to be medal contenders in 2 years...
Although haven't seen much from Kejecha lately....is he hurt?

+1
I wish we could see Bekele on the track although we will see him get gold in the marathon I'm sure.

it would be cool to see him do a 10,000m again as his last ditch effort to get into Rio was that 10,000m that he DNFd in. A shame that was his last track race.
Although if you think of it, he did Berlin after that race so maybe a bit of track workouts helped him prep for that fast marathon
Neither. Soren Knudsen will win the gold, silver, and bronze.
WTF are you saying bekele is by far the most overhyped marathoner ever, he gets so much hype for one good race at Berlin yet everyone looks over the fact that he has 2x more DNF then wins and please for the love of god don’t say "but he’s still the goat" cause on the roads he nothing but a has been.
If anti doping continues to improve I would say podium will be wide open.

Why would it be "cool" to see him in another 10,000?
He got hammered in the 10 in 2012, and has done nothing since.
He's done, son.

Knight because as others have said, Cheserek won't compete for Kenya and won't be a citizen of the US in time.

Of course we won't see it and not really expecting him, but I think 10,000m was his best distance and possibly could still be especially with the lack of competition out there in it. He did win the Pre 10,000m in 2013 and then started his marathon career.
As i said, could be a good tune-up distance for whatever fall marathon he's doing.
