Tuohy ran 4:33.87
Wow! Really nice effort.
Heavily influenced by great captains
these kids are absolute studs. any idea where they are going to college?
Both going to Penn State. Cow Harbor is Northport high school, the same high school that had 3 sub 9 guys in the same race and Mikey Brannigan a few years back.

That Northport coach sure can coach, a repeat national title in the 4x800 and another state record. I believe he now has 2/3 major distance relays state records in NY, The storied 4xmile a few years ago and now this stunning 4x800 squad. This coach has proven that he can take nothing and turn it into something. Clearly the best coach in NYS as of now. Why? Repeated success in ALL 3 SEASONS, not just cross country like so many teams in NY seem to do and it clearly does not benefit them in the long run........... cough cough section 3.
I would've liked to see their 2013 XC team with Brannigan and the McGowan brothers do a little more damage at NXN, but this is a pretty spot on post about that program in general.

Over the last 19 years, Northport's 4x800 meter relay has averaged something like 7:58...
over the last 19 years, Northport has continued to produce elite distance runners. Long Island is a mecca.

Didn't the McGowan brothers go to Penn State? How did that work out?
The Clairborne twins look a little old for their age to me. Like 25 yo grown men. Not saying they're age cheats, but I wonder if they have any upside at all.
Didn't John Gregorek go to Northport? Their school records must be really impressive.
John G was St. Anthony's.
What is even more shocking is how they were just OK at cross. go on to run sub 9 and 150. wild

When did looking old have anything to do with upside?
Just look at Cheserek. He was overage to begin with and became utterly spectacular right when he went off to college.

The McGowan brothers both went to Penn State and did decently there.
And I would imagine that Mikey Brannigan's 4:03 and 8:43 are Northport's mile & 3200m records, edging out Gregorek's records at St. Anthony's at both distances.
Yes, but not by much. this was also in 1978.
Gregorek was a resident of Northport but attended saint Anthony's and was very accomplished there

"Accomplished"??? I'd say so! Kicked my butt all over Sunken Meadow and on the track.

I remember seeing one of them in the 10K at NCAA Outdoor champs (last year or year before?)
