He is a terrific hurdler (13.69)
He is very good at the DT and JT
He ran a 4:46 1500m last year (no performance this year), so he is pretty good at the 1500m (way better than the NCAA champion)
His PV is very weak however (however he might have improved tremendously since last year).
Can he get the US junior record?
Tying all of his PRs will still leave him ~500 shy. No.
I guess that his PV and 1500 are simply too weak

4:43 got you 10th in the decathlon at NCAA.
Therefore, 4:46 for a HS decathlete (in grade 11) is good. My guess is that he will go faster than that today
The HS record with the junior international implements is 7760 points.
Garland is at 5090 points after 6 events.
Unless he really bombs in the PV, I can't see him not coming close to the record.
Dan O'Brien's 1500m PB was only 4:37.50, so Garland's projected 1500m ability is good enough that it won't prevent him from competing at the top level.
Does need to improve the pole vault.

I am assuming that a few national coaches gave him a few tips earlier this week in the PV (he is really weak). Hopefully, it will produce instant results.
He came I need at 3.15 in the PV and is clearing every height (not passing any), 3.25, 3.35, 3.45... Is he just using this as a PV practice? His PB is somewhere around 3.90.

I believe that she set PBs in her first 6 events.

Ignore this. I looked at the IAAF site. She did 5798 points 2 weeks ago (and did 14.03, 6.06 35.96, 2:17.18...), , ? Who does 2 heptathlons in 2 weeks?
