Fouling to deny the sure goal is absolute jewery. They should just give the goal automatically in that case.

Jewery? Really?

that was ok, but it just knocked England out. This was the best of all as it defeated the world champions West Germany to win the 1976 European Champs.

Well, that is namesake goal of the Panenka penalty.
For the added time at the end of the half/game, do they keep an official clock of stoppage time, or do they just kind of estimate? Like if I kept a stopwatch at home and timed that the ball was out of play exactly 4:53, would there definitely end up being 5 minutes of added time, or is it looser than that?
Just wondering because it seems like the commentators are never sure how much time will be added until the official puts the time up, but I'd think it would be easy enough to track.

This has been the question for years, if not decades...lol. Keep in mind, it's not "added time" by definition it is "injury time". So if a player is down on the ground legit hurt for 3:53, then 4 minutes SHOULD be added.

No, it's pretty much a number they pulled out of their @ss. It does prevent teams from wasting too much time in stoppages because the refs have a mechanism to add it back.

It seems like this has been a directive from FIFA within the past 5 years...like they will flash say 4 minutes, but then due to time wasting it actually becomes 6 minutes or 7 minutes...but I don't think the 4th official is required to flash that there will be "extra" minutes on top of the extra time. It's interesting.
Neymar???? geesh

Ouch! That explains why the faking is effective.
Brazil is a faster, more athletic team than Mexico.
Not sure why the Mexican't coach Osario started Rafa Marquez. Losing Chicarito didn't help either. Their GK Ochoa kept them in the game.
Brazil looks strong defensively. If they can somehow get Neymar going, they are even scarier. The first few games he looked like he was lost and not on the same page as the other players on the field.
Mexico was so anemic. They should be embarrassed.
