Just watched some replays of the games today. Russia-Uruguay went as expected and I stopped watching after Russia was down to 10 men. Uruguay has a good attack and defense and I think they could cause trouble for any opponent.
The Group B games were pretty exciting. The announcers like to share the highlights of the other match, so I basically have to choose one match replay per time slot because the results from the other match will be spoiled during the broadcast. I watched Portugal-Iran and I picked wrong, because the Spain-Morocco game seemed like it was more exciting. Oh well.
Looking ahead, I think Uruguay will beat Portugal, they just look like the better team with a very tough defense. Spain is vastly superior to Russia, but their defense has not looked convincing. Still, I will take Spain into the quarterfinals because they are so much better than Russia.
For tomorrow's games, I expect Peru to make easy work of Australia to salvage some pride and allow Denmark to coast into the quarters, regardless of what happens in their game against France. In Group D, I simply don't expect Iceland to stop Croatia's midfield and attack, they are just too good. Although I can see Croatia playing for a tie so they can wrap up first place without too much risk.
Who knows what will happen with Argentina-Nigeria. I foresee some Argentina magic and some help from Croatia that will allow Argentina to get through on a whisker. With every team still in contention to advance, anything can happen, which will make for some exciting late games.
