I keep wussing out during my mile races in the last 600. Does anyone have any mental games or phrases(or anything else) they use to keep themselves from embracing weakness?

1. Run on pure hate.
2. Heavy metal.
3. Lots of black coffee before the race.
1. Pretend a bear is chasing you
2. Pretend a drill sergeant is barking at you
3. Pretend you're an airplane about to take off
4. Pretend you're a zen buddhist samurai monk warrior
I work in a building where there's a guy with no legs. He uses a rather basic wheelchair. No motor. All his arms. When I watch him move around the building, in doors, out doors, it makes me want to cry. Think of him. Think how lucky you are to have legs. Just run.
Think "Theirs no place like home".
Go out slower.
You have to give meaning to the suffering. With no meaning you'll give up, no one suffers for no reason. When you wuss out it's because you don't truly care if you slow down. You don't care if you get beat or you don't truly care that you are weak. One of the better strategies is to enjoy and embrace the pain. Enjoyment is meaning.

The Strobe Effect: Mental Techniques for the last 600 yards.
a. Visually flash images of great runners, superimposed with you (yeah you).
b. Auditory flashing sounds that create a montage of a combination of
relax, centering and concentrating.
c. Kinesthetically, cool your body, imagine you are running down a glacier
being chased by a big polar bear.
d. Imagine Gerry Lindgren in your shadows knowing that it was your own
shadow that brought you under 3:50 for the mile.
Good luck
Imagine you’re running behind Genzebe
Try to slow down and get a little bit of rest
Try to focus on hitting a 1200m or even a 1100m target, then once that is done, try to reset your mind and make the last 400m or 300m a new race and a desperate one.
Don't think run
Mind you you if you are gone at 600m you've got no chance
