His ten-year streak of medal finishes ended in 2015. He almost caught Blankenship in 2016, but ended up 4th. Last year, he didn't make it out of rounds. Right now, he doesn't have the standard. Does anyone know if he's going for it this weekend?

FWIW, I could see USATF letting him in if he doesn't hit the entry, as it doesn't appear that there are 30 entrants that do. But he's not a Nike athlete anymore, so who knows. Obviously I expect a big uproar on here if he is in fact let in instead of getting the standard this weekend.

A bunch of guys will get in without hitting the presupposed time standard. The field size target is the operational figure in the selection process.
If nobody else gets the standard this weekend, there will be 12 slots remaining, since the target field size is 30. As PerhapsMaybe points out, Leo looks like he's going to get accepted -- depending on the conversion factor, he's either # 5 or 6. A lot of guys would have to run season's bests this weekend to bump him.
I hope I'm wrong, but even if he gets in, I don't think we'll see the sort of clutch runs we got used to, when Good Leo would show up and go big in the big races.
As predicted by many above, Leo and others were accepted to fill out the heats, and have declared.

That's good, it's surprising that a 3:57.35 mile almost doesn't get you into USAs on an off year
