I’ve done that, was a terrible mistake. When you report back make sure you include your distance etc.

The run actually went really well! I’m early in buildup so I did a respectable 12 mile [VERY hilly] moderate long run at ~7:00 pace in 71 degree weather w/ almost 100% humidity. I bet the run would’ve been exactly the same if I got a full night of sleep. Maybe I felt fine because I slept 10 hours the two nights before.
I tried to go to sleep at 3 AM but I couldn’t for some reason. I tried to sleep for a couple of hours with no avail until I saw that it was 5 AM and realized that it would be the best weather to do a long run (it’s 10 AM now and the heat index is already 93). I feel like I got a full night of sleep but I know that I will feel tired soon. I will try to tough it out until 8 PM to establish a routine of going to bed early and waking up early.
I’m an incoming college freshman btw running for a mid major DI.
Moderate means moderate distance not moderate effort today’s run was an easy effort

Update: here is how much I slept over the last few nights because I tried to squeeze in runs during vacation time.
Saturday: 0
Sunday: 14-15
Monday: 6
Tuesday: 9-10 (slept in)
Wednesday: 4
Thursday (last night): 7-8
I think in the short term sleep is overrated. I ran my 5k PR after 1.5 hours of sleep. It helps however if you do your runs early in the morning. For example sometimes if I feel like I'm not going to be able to sleep that night, I will go for a run at 2 AM and then try to sleep at 4 to reset. from my personal experience 24 hours awake is not terrible to do athletic tasks, but once you start pushing 36 hours things get real weird

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
