Nope, sorry.
What did Evan do when he went down?
What did Malley do when he went down?
What steeplers do when they go down?
Get up and run.

He didn't jog it in. He could have had a concussion as hard as he fell. His teams chances likely went down the tubes. Dude absolutely went for it. Greatness doesn't always come from it, but I gained a ton of respect for the kid.
I doubt it was Magness' call. Carl Lewis and Leroy Burrell probably had a say in it, too. I'm sure they felt that Brian had to win or place very highly in order to get that team title. Florida has so many weapons that you can't just sit back and settle for 5th place.
And congrats on becoming the new biggest a**hole on LRC, It's Egun.
Completely agree with everything you said, Wejo.
This is almost definitely Magness's call. In Carl Lewis's position, why hire the guy if you're going to manage the distance runners anyway? Why wouldn't you have the input from the guy who actually coaches him everyday?

Idk if you're trolling or are just a complete jerk but he popped up immediately and staggered around before falling again. He was obviously injured after falling that hard.
Great race, just unfortunate mistake by Brian. Looked like he was going to run 8:28 - 8:30 had he not fallen. Don’t see anything wrong with the game plan. Guy had fastest PR in field and not the greatest kick. Even if he dies a little he is still in contention and finishes at worst 3rd place had he not fallen. If he sits back a lot can go wrong with other kickers in the race. Could finish 1rst could finish 5th. When you have fastest PR in the field and know you are in PR shape (which he clearly is); then clearly the strategy they used was one of the best strategies...just in this case one mishap screwed it up but it could have easily happened in any other scenario as well(especially a kickers race with guys closely jumbled together)...not sure why people are arguing that it was a bad strategy...
ICYMI, Cam Burrell dedicated his 100m title to Brian. Classy guy. Team is family.
Yes, Burrell showed a lot of class with that dedication. He knows how much effort Barraza put into that race. Leroy and carl have put together a great program and developed a real team first culture, awesome.
they are saying it was a bad gameplan because the guy ended up on his face..........
i think he has the fastest mile PR In the field, it's Magness' fault if he can't kick.
Umm I think that was the point he was trying to make Jonathan a real steeple chase runner and an athlete doesn’t fall down boom and not get up like this guy did.

idk what you're saying? He did get up and run. He dislocate his shoulder and might have a concussion. But even being fully exhausted and having over 300m to go he got up and finished the race. What are you on about?

He wasn't making the point that he got hurt, he was making the point that he felt like Brian quit on the race.

He was clearly disoriented and hurt after he fell. It isn't a problem with effort, he was hurt and couldn't finish at a high level.

Because they have no compassion, about you, nor anyone else.
If you belong in the steeple you have the whereabouts to navigate the race.
I have no sympathy for someone who cannot.
Oh c’mon man nobody wants to be that guy, he was pretty pathetic, go finish the race like viren........finish the race. Viren won gold after being raked by frank.
UGA has 52pts now, UH has 31. Barraza had to win in order to give his team a chance. Strategy was certainly sound. That is all.

His shoulder looked bruised. I wonder if he broke something.

Did you even watch? He did finish the race. There's a big difference between tripping and falling and falling over a barrier.

He did finish. Are you dense?

I am so sorry to say this, but that was the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen in the steeple.
Three second lead, stutter steps a hurdle and face plants...
Ridiculous.
Exhibited absolutely NO athletic ability, felt sorry for himself, and jogged walked it in...
Pathetic.
Oh and yes, I have run as fast as him, and CAN comment.
Pathetic exhibition of steeple.
