People are talking about how the attrition rate at University of Washington was 50%, but I am pretty sure the UCSB attrition rate has been higher than that the past few years.
The new coaches will replace Pete Dolan who is leaving UCSB Athletics after almost 30 years.

Having been on a college team when a coach got fired, this announcement is the kind of thing that happens. The school and the coach come to an agreement to save face/avoid litigation, and then an opaque announcement about the coach "moving on" and a search comes out. Given how long Pete had been there and all the W's his athletes wracked up, the fact that this announcement is so brief implies that something went down. Having met Pete and knowing a thing or two about how he ran his program, I'm not surprised that something like this could have happened. My bet, being that he's a grade A *sshole, is that he bullied too hard and finally got called out. And before anyone loses their mind: it's entirely possible to know how to get people fit and win races while also being a terrible person.
Care to elaborate? By worthless do you mean "doesn't want to deal with a lawsuit so fired a coach who was becoming a problem?" or do you mean, "has no idea how to run a an athletic department?" Do tell!
If it wasn't for radio sports talk host Jim Rome, mentioning his alma mater over the years, I would have never heard of this school.
Clearly you are quite obtuse then, given that UCSB has one of the best physics, chemical engineering, and materials science departments in the world and multiple Nobel Laureates.
