2:00.85 for 4th in Nashville tonight against a field of pros. Impressive - could we see a sub 2 at USA’s?

Fastest final lap in the field.
I hadn't even heard of this in-state runner, yet a little Internet research shows that she is a senior who ran 2:04 this year, then 2:02 at States (3rd best under 20 in the world at the time this year, and she has won 11 state titles, including five in a row at the 800) and now 2:00.85, and has also run 54 and 4:38, plus a national hs best of 1:29 600m.
Mary Cain still holds the high school record of 1:59.51 or does that not count because she was a pro?
That may not be surpassed here but she's got a great shot at sub 2.
If a high school girl runs 2:00 in the woods and there’s no one there to Post about it on LRC, does it really happen?

She is now 2nd best under 20. Interestingly, she is actually older than Sammy Watson (by a few months) and faster than her (this year).
The US will have a good one, two combination over 800m at world junior this year.
Thanks for this information. I hadn't recalled just how fast Sammy Watson was, or young: she actually ran 1:27 600m indoors last year, and has run 52.69 outdoors for the 400m. Her mile is not as fast, 4:47, but she ran 4:21 indoors this year, which is not far off 4:38 mile. Interestingly, Watson also has marks in the triple jump, long jump and other events--maybe an attempt at a heptathlon is a possibility for her at some point.
Collier’s time also places her 7th US junior all time (ahead of people like Efraimson and Price)
I thought it placed her fourth. Between Sammy Watson and Ajee Wilson. Just looking at milesplit though.

Avi'Tal Wilson-Perteete of UNLV has run 2:01.14 this year.
Leo closes in 57.77 for 3:42.72

It makes her #4 High School all-time. 0.20 behind Sammy Watson. Is she doing Brooks PR next week?
Caitlin Collier
Avi’ Tal Wilson-Perteete (ATP)
Kamryn McIntosh
Sammy Watson
Aaliyah Miller
Kayla Johnson
All are Junior eligible and have run 2:03 or better. Caitlin Collier has the best junior time, but keep in mind that H.S. athlete's time their peak for their state meet in late May, while NCAA athletes like Watson and Miller are primed for mid-June.

Miller is not junior-eligible. Born in '98.

Why do you think that Collier is "timing her peak" for the state meet? She could win that working trough it.
Collier has been getting better and better and is she is peaking as you say who says she cannot hold it for just a few weeks and run well at Jrs?

When you are a girl in 2:00 territory, you are not going to be planning to peak for your state meet in May. She won that race by nine seconds.

In general, kid's do peak for their state meet, but you are correct in that when you are far and away the best athlete, you focus on the summer. Collier is definitely peaking, hopefully, she can hold her peak for USATF juniors which is several weeks away. Even though she will likely be coming in with the best time, making that team is going be very difficult, she will have to run rounds and go up against athletes used competing at a high level.
Rounds are tough, of course, for anyone but it has to be said that this athlete has won 11 state titles and so obviously does rounds in multiple events every year. Watson is a great championship runner, obviously, and has to be the favorite for juniors.
We all do remember that Collier ran rounds and won juniors last year, right?
She has a deepish voice for a girl as well.
