Currently offering $1000 voucher, whatever they mean by that. If it was cash, I would take it.

Which airline? Some give gift card vouchers that are basically as good as cash.
Delta.
If you're not in a hurry, I'd take it. Although when can you get another flight? Is there a good restaurant at the airport?
Last Thanksgiving my son received $1,200 cash from American at Charlotte Intl; he was promptly re-routed and actually got to our destination before I did (we left from different cities).
I paid for his ticket and to be kind, I only asked him for $1,000 back from his winnings. He argued that it was all his for the "ordeal." I say it is 100% mine plus interest and only a millennial would argue something so ludicrous. The only valid point you could make is that American Airlines gives the money to the passenger not the buyer of the ticket.
Who is right?
I hope you got that voucher. Basically as good as a gift card.
When did you last get laid?
Don't they have to offer a cash alternative?
If nobody is getting dragged off the plane you haven't heard their best offer, don't give in, OP

Unfortunately, I waited one person too long. Held out for a better offer, and I was the last passenger on the plane. No soup for me :-/

It's too late to help you this time, but I took a bump on a Delta flight last year, had the option of a Delta credit or a handful of different gift card options, including an amex gift card which you can use pretty much anywhere. Same value for delta credit or a gift card, no idea why anyone would take the Delta credit option.
obvious troll is obvious.

He should just reimburse you for the original cost of the ticket and the rest is his. That way you are not out anything for the cost of his ticket.
Obviously you are a non-frequent flier.
What is your annual income?
Has anyone ever been bumped off a flight when you had a first class or business class seat?
What is the average air speed velocity of a swallow?

He didn’t get cash from American. If you can prove that he did, I’ll give the same amount to a charity of your choice.
