Nice performance for Sara Hall 3rd place finish in Ottawa 2:26:20. Geleta Burks former major medalist at both 1500m and 10000m notched her first marathon win in 2:22 low.

I was thinking about running this marathon but I got injured.
Great run by Hall. Another PR for her. And at age 35!
Yemane Tsegay won the men's race again. Top American was Jonathon Mott in 9th with a 2:18:35. Look he ran a nice 69:35/69:00 negative split for an OTQ. Overall, times looked a little slow this year, as temperatures seems a little hot. They really need to consider moving the date of this marathon, heat seems to be an issue every year.
3rd place, $10,000 Canadian (so just under $8,000 US) and a new PR. Not bad for a fallback race after scratching from Boston.
I wonder what her fall will look like. With her history of prolific racing, I wonder if she’ll run one of the domestic majors and then double back to defend her national title at CIM. And I bet we see her on the roads a fair amount between now and then, although I hope she takes a bit of time off.
One minute PR after all these years...impressive.
Aside from some headwinds in the first half conditions were about as good as can be expected in Ottawa in late-May. Last two years were far too hot though. Saw Sara coming back up Sussex and she looked strong (about 37km).
This makes her one of the 10 all-time fastest American women in the Marathon.

Still, wasn't the temperature in the high 50s working its way into the 60s? If that is the best that Ottawa can do in late May, that's too hot for a marathon.

Too hot for you maybe.

Impressive time for Sara. Magness really needs to stick to Twitter.

I hope Burka can get an invitation to Berlin or Chicago and run sub 2:20.
What do you mean magness needs to stick to twitter?
congrats to Jon Mott on his freshly minted OTQ

She’s getting pretty long in tooth. Wonder what her end game is. Must be hard to stay motivated especially after having adopted those kids. I’m guessing she makes a grab at one of the 3 2020 Olympic marathon slots and then calls it a career. She and Dathan both.
I hope Ryan didn't give Sara a bear hug after the race. All that Muscle Milk strength just might hurt too much.
Does Sara have a chance to make the 2020 'thon team?

The bar has been raised. Elite Men and women are running the marathon at high levels up to the age of 40 now. So a runner under the age of 40 in still in his or her prime now.
Meb ran his marathon PR at the age of 38. Mary Keitany PRd her half marathon by a full second, running 64 mins, which would have broken the WR last year. She is 36.
So Sara is still deep in her prime, and she has PR'd three years straight. In 2016 she ran 2:28, last year she ran 2:27, and now she is running 2:26. I think she can get down to 2:21 in a fast race, and she is going to be ready to go for 2020.

Josh Cox pushed Burka's husband out of the way so he could be the first to hug her.

He gave her a "Big Bear" hug
Dathan intends to compete well into his master’s career.
Really you think she's capable of 2:21 on a certified legal course?
