About me:
Just turned 26 and currently am about 6'3 210 pounds.
In HS I ran track for one indoor season and a few weeks of outdoor my senior year. I ran a 11.82 in the 100m without having very dedicated training. I was about 6'2-6'3 175-180 at the time. FWIW also ran the 400m once with no training in about 59 seconds and the 55m dash in about 6.9 seconds without much training.
I quit track to train for football (american) because I played all my life and I walked on at a d-1 college and played 5 years as a WR/TE (WR one year/TE the rest) Obviously I gained alot of weight to play TE so I was around 230 throughout college and ran around 4.7 to 4.8 in the 40 although in high school I ran a 4.6. We did some speed work in college but I was more focused on gaining weight/strength and being quick off the ball (the only time I played as special teams or garbage time so I focused on being a good blocker) speed work was more for the WRs/DBs.
I am very lucky and never had any major injuries playing football save for a sprained ankle and some turf toe.
I am 210 now and trying to get back into training. If I did lose the weight, and focused on a dedicated and rigorous training regimen could I get to sub 11 in the 100m by 27 or 28 or even 29? I know sprinters tend to peak around my current age probably even a little earlier.
Obviously this is for my own personal satisfaction, I am not training for any upcoming meets or events.
Also I don't drink or use drugs and I am in ok shape to start-could probably run a mile in like 7 minutes but have not done any speed/endurance/even weight room training in 3 years since I graduated, I play basketball 2x week and run 5 miles 2x a week thats my only exercise aside from walking to work.
Anyways let me know your thoughts.
Thanks!
