Had to look him up. Looks like he’s run 3:37 for the 1500.

But eliminated first round of NCAAs. So who really cares?
Titles > times
Got intentionally cut off by NAU’s grivalga, he threw out his arm to not let him pass him on the inside at the end. Cheap move by the freshman, they should change these rules about inside passing, the outside runner can take unfair advantage. Otherwise, brutally physical race
He’s a young Aussie, new to the NCAA system and collegiate racing. A few tactical errors cost him in this race but he’ll learn from it.
With West, Hoare, McDonald, McSweyn, Ramsden, the Aussies are deep with young talent.

Haha what?! The NAU guy was in the middle of lane 1 and wasn’t going to get shoved outside by a poor tactical racer trying to squeeze through where he can’t fit. Just rewatched it on Instagram.
He is not Oz he is from England in Europe. Went to same college Seb Coe went to.

Replace West with Jack Bruce.

Another case of our time-obsessed track & field culture. Time trial races at Stanford or Bryan Clay are nice to run fast, but it doesn't teach you how to race well, which is what ultimately matters to score points for your team and earn medals and trophies.

Seemed to do alright at the PAC-12 champs.
A 3:37 guy in heats at this level should stick his neck out a bit and get a good pace, rather than sitting back in the pack with that slow a pace. He'll do a lot better next year.
That was a wild last lap. Him and Reed Brown had horrible positioning, but Brown was at least passing on the outside and used his speed wisely. West got stuck inside and couldn’t get an actual opening. Big tactical error there.
