I venture a lot more than 10 percent of the population were loyal to the Crown come the Revolution in the 1770’s - I bet they never teach in American schools that the British colonies of North America were the lightest taxed, most liberally governed (in the classical small government sense), freest, most prosperous, and most equitable portions of the entire eighteenth century world.
And yet you still revolted against British rule!
Actually the whole Royal family cost us surprisingly little, compared to the cost of the American version.
Such pretension as well - I recall a few years back, when Obama visited Brussels for ONE day arriving with a 900 strong entourage, and a 45 vehicles motorcade needing 3 cargo planes apart from Airforce One.
On a 24 hour visit!
Okay, he’s the president, but I’ve never heard anything about the Office of the First Lady?
We were intrigued to see after accompanying the president to meet with Northern Ireland youth, Air Force Two had to be on hand to fly Mrs Obama, and her two kids the hundred miles from Belfast to Dublin for a two day visit.
It was later revealed that 2 day visit cost US taxpayers $7,921,638.66!
By comparison, flying our whole Royal Family around for that year, costs we taxpayers $5,194,347.37.
And don’t forget our Queen is also the constitutional Queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Grenada, Jamaica, Papua New Guinea, St Lucia, St, Vincent, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.
