Had hip surgery in February and have just started to do some Alter-G running at PT within the last week. Should be back on the roads in a few weeks but it will be a slow build back towards any sort of decent mileage. My first few runs will be in the 1' jog, 4' walk variety.
Hoping to run NYC this fall and being that I will have access to an Alter-G treadmill I've been considering using it to help build some mileage through the summer/fall.
So my question is has anyone used it regularly as a supplement for marathon training? If so, how did you structure your schedule on it? We're you only doing easy miles/recovery runs on it?
One of my thoughts was since it will take me a while to get up to long runs I could do 5-6 miles outdoors and then come in to the alter-g for some additional miles which would let me get some of the aerobic benefits with less chance of angering my hip (or anything else for that matter)
Cheers,
