Hi, I’m a first time poster who is roughly a month away from my 5th full marathon but this will be my first legitimate attempt at a BQ. My qualifying time is 3:05 but I’m aiming for 3 flat to ensure I beat the cut off. I’m having a difficult time deciding how and when to taper. My initial thought was a 2 week 25/50% taper, right now I’m at my peak volume and an average week is 2 24km repeat workouts at a track (above race pace), 1 recovery run in between the work outs then a long run on Sunday at which I’m currently up to 35km. I only recently increased the repeats to 24km and when I was at 21 I was doing them 3x a week and after about 3 weeks of that I was completely burnt out and my long runs suffered so once I increased the distance I chose to drop down to just 2 workouts per week. Anyways I’m curious what the thoughts are on tapering for 2 or 3 weeks and which might be better suited for me?
