So I have been having horrible shin splints all season and I made the mistake of running through them. The past few days I have been felling something in my shin and it so progressively getting worse. I can feel the exact spot where it hurt and I know it is a stress fracture (I had a few over the years). The pain is not bad that I can’t run on it, but I also have a pretty high pain tolerance.
This weekend is my state meet (3200) and I know I should stop, but I have a pretty good shot at medaling and getting a fast time since I am supposed to peak around here. I also worked so hard this whole season and now it is just going to go to waste.
I know I shouldn’t run on a stres fracture but I have like 3 days left in the season and I am hardly going to be running because of tapering decides the actual race. I am also already taking at least a month off before xc.
What would happen if I ran on it? I will have a lot recovery time after and I can handle the pain. Plus it might calm down since I am not running a whole lot until the race. I have ran through stress fractures in the past before I knew I had one and the damage wasn’t bad I only had to take a few weeks off. So if I man already going to be taking the time off, could I run through it? What damage would that have in the future?
