Examples
Soccer is a sport (1, 2, & 3)
Running is a sport (1 & 2, but not 3)
Gymnastics is not a sport (2, but not 1 or 3)
Change my mind.
I'll make no attempt to change your mind about soccer, running and gymnastics, but I offer a counterexample to show your definition is flawed. Chess meets all three criteria, and would hence meet the jeffinition for "sport," unless you add clarity as to what you mean by "athlete."
I agree. Read the post immediately before yours.

I'd argue MotoGP and Formula 1 drivers do plenty of active defense too and thus satisfy 1 and 3.
I would argue that “defense” implies more than “impeding”; I think it implies intentional physical contact with an opponent.
I would argue that highscool xc certainly is a very physical sport, especially with a packed start. I once raced in a meet where the boxes were about a foot wide, and if you didn't want to go down, you had to shove and elbow and trip everyone else. It was you or them.
I think high school xc satisfies all 3 requirements

Good job, team. A couple of tweaks to my NOW BULLET-PROOF jeffinition:
1. Outcome is decided by athletes, not judges
2. The actions involved must be physically strenuous, and the athlete must do the majority of the work (not a horse or a car)
3. You must be able to actively and physically play defense
With team sports the coach decides the outcome and not the athlete.
With gravity/power sports the athlete does not provide energy, rather, physics provides the free energy.
