Ran my first race ever (5k in 28 and change after a month of running) 1.5 years ago. Currently 32 years old. I was sedentary from 20 years old to 31 years old. Athlete in high school (wrestling mostly, never track or XC).
Ran a half marathon 5 months after the first 5k in typical hobby jogger fashion. 1:52 and change. 190 lbs, 5'11" male. Ran another 5k a week after that in 24 and change. Ran another a month later in 23 and change. Damaged Achilles, 2 days/wk running for a month. Spent the next few months slowly building mileage to 35 mpw. Wasted two months following the MAF method, but at least I learned what easy running is. Did one month of tempos (no VO2max work) and ran a 21 and change 5k in December 2017.
Ran a 5k in April 2018 with inconsistent training due to multiple bouts of food poisoning and pneumonia. Ran 20 and change.
I'll update this as the PR's from a new runner come. I don't race often though and have very little idea of what I'm doing. Just running, tempos as they feel good and sometimes when they don't. Currently 155 lbs. Goal weight 145 within two months. Stay tuned (or don't... This is really just a selfish self motivation thread)
