Hello,
A year ago I found out that I enjoy to run a nd train on the track. Sprint training especially. I do this for fun and to keep fit.
I was a total beginner when it comes to running shoes and I chose ones that had nice colours and looked good.
I also have a pretty flat arch it seems since I was a child and after 1 month of 2-3 training sessions a week my right ankle became pretty painful.
I now know that I should’ve looked for shoes with pronation support. I’ve also bought special insoles to put inside my shoes.
The only problem is that I don’t know exactly what kind of shoe would be right for me. I tried a pair of Mizunos, can t remember the model name, which where fine, but they were so soft and cushioned that I felt like I was running on little clouds. A nice feeling, but I didn’t like it. The track that i’m training on is already pretty soft.
I think those were made for running on asphalt. I keep looking at all the models but there are so many that it is overwhelming.
I need something with good arch support and a little less cushion and, I think, higher rigidity. I think running flats shoes are what i’m after, but I don’t know for sure and looking at Asics’s website for example I couldn’t find anything close that resembles a running flat. The only things that I can find are, cushion, more cushion, and shoes made for running on asphalt.
I really need some suggestions from experienced runners. I don’t want to resume my training sessions without the proper footwear and injure myself again.
Thank you.
Mike
