Didn't he get second? A kid from Broomfield, Mike Mooney, beat him and ran 4:11.9.
Cruz is awesome though, no question!

Mooney is the guy who got shafted by the Canuck cheater at Arcadia. Quite a stud also.
What is the CO state record (I assume 5000+ elev.)?

I couldn't find results. Do all high school meets just upload their results to pay sites ? (Athletic.net and milesplit?) Do no meets just post them online?
Did he run the 51.84 at altitude as well? I believe that makes it slower. Maybe more like 51.9x

Athletic.net is definitely not a pay site. You can access any results for free. You might need to make a free account first though
Also, MileSplit doesn't put the results behind a pay wall, at least here in CO.
http://co.milesplit.com/meets/295947/results/592522/raw#.WveXeohME1IMileSplit has never had any results behind a paywall and Is the easiest website to find results on
410.98 Richie Martinez set in Pueblo so about 1000ft lower than the current Colorado State meet site.
There is another sophomore in the same classification as culpepper, Cole sprout, who I believe has the best chance to get the record next weekend. Sprout ran 901 for the 3200 at altitude last week.
Milesplit and athletic.net dont put results behind paywalls at all. You can access their results at any time for free.
Milesplit charges you for access to their database to see rankings and such.
Athletic.net charges for extra features.
Meet results are always available for free.
51.84 at sea-level is about 4:07 1600. Cruz is a big talent, but we've known that before he was even born.
Race video begins at 8:43:35
MS 2 years ago insisted you join them before printing the results
Which one is Cruz Culpepper? The Mexican kid?

That Mooney kid is a frikin BEAST.
Has anyone run sub 4:00 in Colorado? There was a guy at Adams State in 2015 who was shooting for the record, which would have been a first. I think that the difficulty of running sub 4 in CO puts the 4:11 (Broomfield kid) and 4:12 (Culpepper) into perspective.
The only kid in recent memory who had a real shot at Rich Martinez's record was John Maguire in 2005 (I think he was like 4th at FLN the previous fall) but they didn't have as good of meet organization back then so the only time he could have done it would have been state, and if I recall correctly he got the flu.
Now it seems like 3-4 kids may be capable, between Culpepper, Mooney, Sprout, and Lee.
I forgot Isaac Green. He had a good shot too.
He also got invited to brooks pr recently for the mile I assume
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
