real impressive 1st 5000m, but 25 lappers are merciless if you go out too hard in the heat! should be interesting though for the NCAA 10000 m assuming that she stays healthy....
I was in a 10k run in 95+ degree heat years ago, where one of the runners clinging to the lead pack began to wobble and then abruptly turn around and begin running in the opposite direction
I was there. I guess it was important to her to attempt to break her b10 record and set the track record. I don’t understand it. She could have coasted to an even 32 minutes and had plenty to come back in the 5000. Her last 100 was scary.
Your body can only take so much ! Finn was the danger zone last night

She was 15:52 at 5k and hadn't started her fade yet. SHE WAS RUNNING 32 Minute pace. She couldn't have comfortably run 32 minutes.
it was her 2 miles split - 10:02 that was to fast
GoBlue-yikes fast 2 mile split! -looks like the Receveur was dropped early? given that she was a medalist at NCAA 5000m last year (15:44?), high 33 min shows that the heat was nasty and most runners paced themselves accordingly as opposed to Finn.....

The only reason that her last two laps were slow was because she was showboating. She did the last 70 meters backwards while trying to pump up the crowd. I can't see how she doesn't get DQ'd.
DQ'd for what? Not being boring?
I think both of her parents are Doctors . Anxiety level had been through the roof.
Hopefully, flotrack can get an interview this weekend

Exactly. There's a reason that track is so popular, it's a gentleman's sport. World indoor was the top viewed sporting event of 2018 so far for that reason.

...why? just, why? There's no need to go out anywhere close to that pace.
That's why you are posting on Letsrun, and not being posted about.
Scratch her off your list for NCAAs.
DO you think Finn is done for the season now?

Well you see it was her first 10k and there's this little thing called the NCAA Regional she wanted to make sure she qualified for.
But she could have run an even paced 34+ minute 10k, won comfortably, and still guaranteed herself a spot at regionals without going so deep into the well and still possibly come back to run the 5k. 35:25 is 64th for West right now. 35:11 was 64th last year, 35:16 in 2016. This is not the right way to run a 10k.

No. She’ll be fine by regionals.
Maybe but the girl from NM is not going to be beaten and there are a handful of great 10,000 times this spring. My guess is she'll be lucky to make AA.
How many seasons does this girl have left? This is like her 3rd senior yr?
Erin is running the 5000 on Sunday.
Shut up man! NO way 8-)
