So much for FloTrack's "Solider's First" puff piece ... This program is just a manipulation of the rules to fasttrack the US citizenship process.

First, people are allowed to leave the armed forces free to penalty once their commitments are complete.
Second, let's say the program is a "fasttrack" to US citizenship. Who do you blame for that?
Just so people aren't misinformed, Shadrack's 4-year contract was complete and he had every right to pursue other opportunities.
Remember that the WCAP athletes don't earn any additional income from races or sponsors, they just have the Army salary. He can make more $ presumably from Nike, especially as a 27:07 10k runner.
People against WCAP really don't do their research, do they?

I’ve got plenty of former soldiers in my classes. No one holding anything against them for moving on, nor should they. It’s a free country.

Smart move on his part. Is he a part of the American Distance Project now?
He did his time and got citizenship. I have no problems with this.

What do you mean by "additional income"? They can certainly earn prize money. Why do you think they are running so many road races?
I really wonder how they have time to train so much, because I assume they must be very busy killing Muslim terrorists in some African country.
Are you even paying attention? wrote:

Fool, because the military does not pay performance bonuses to enlistees.
Why wouldn't he? He has great range and great potential, from a 27:07 10k to a solid 1500/3k showing at USA indoors and a 3:55 mile all in the past year at age 28 after being a complete nobody in college.
Kipchirchir was a STEM major at OSU and qualified for an H1-B Visa, but chose to serve the United States of America as a soldier for freedom and democracy.

Given that he’s Guard/Reserve and a non-combat MOS this was really never possible....
Also, one could continue service as a weekend warrior and still compete. I know many reservists and guardsmen who continue to train and race while completing a NG career.

dfezef is CORRECT as well as the OP that began this thread. OUR Army, signs these guys up under FALSE PRETENSES via the Military Accessions Vital to National Interest (MAVNI) program. Ostentisbly, to utilize their language/cultural skills in the Global War on Terror (GWOT) specifically their on the Kenya/Somalia border. That said, instead of defending our country OUR Army issues them citzenship and a WCAP singlet to disrupt our fragile post-collegiate system.

Then it’s a good thing the military isn’t the one paying out prize money at races, eh?

Most people join for reasons other than war. Most complete their enlistment with no time overseas.
The WCAP guys aren’t breaking any rules.
Alan
Thank you for your service, Kipchirchir.
Thank you for being a d*ck Likety.
- Rules vs Ethics ....
- WCAP continues to "lower the bar" for OUR Army

Feel free to write the commander of IMCOM and USAREC. I’m sure they would love to hear from you.
Alan
