Transgender in D3 Conference swings tight meet, Fair Play controversy renewed. Thoughts?

I coach a high school team, and at our conference meet a transgender won the girls 200. You could tell it was a guy running. Also I don't think at the high school level anything is required as far as hormones, or surgery. What I heard was they can compete with the gender they identify with?

Nobody wants to touch this issue with a 10-foot pole. The local government, school district, administrators, and coaches have to sack up and put a stop to this or girls will be the real losers. The legacy of Title IX, whatever you think about it, is the explosion of girls participating and getting the benefits that sports, especially team sports, brings to education and life. The progressive motivation to attack and destroy everything that succeeds will undo all the good done over the last 20 years. If nobody has the guts to stand up to this, the girls will have to do it on their own. Good luck to them, it is sorely overdue.

As a former female collegiate runner, I've discussed this topic with my former teammates. They actually didn't understand why I'd be upset that something women have worked so hard for. I'm all for equality and I think any person should be able to live the life they want, but physiologically there are differences that you cannot ever change putting you at a biological advantage. But, people are more concerned about allowing one to compete with the gender they identify with when sex (physiological differences) is what really separates the male vs female performances. It sucks because it's not fair to someone who is transgender to prevent them from competing as the person they truely indenting with but it also seems pretty selfish to take that away from the women who've worked so hard to get to this point.

So the NCAA guidelines are based on scientific experiment that say, the testosterone suppressant after 1 year, allows a man to fall within the normal variation of women among the population in terms of testosterone level and muscle mass.

So people here are afraid of cheaters, let me get this straight: in order to compete as a trans gendered woman (MTF) the person must first be prescribed hormone suppressant (which doctors will only give after a person has presented as a woman for at least a year), then they have to be on the hormone suppressant for another year, all the while, the doctor ensures the person is presenting as a woman (so living as a woman for at least two years before you are eligible, and for one year on a hormone suppressant).... All to win a running race against women? Letsrun must be full of desperately slow men to be worried about this...

So "Michelle" majors in "foreign languages" and his event is "multi". Can't decide on a major, event or a gender. Just plain "corn-fused".

A man is man is a man. He should not be racing against girls. They are finally trying to get it right in international competition by telling guys they can only race against the girls in the longer races. BTW - you didn't say anything about the HS example where a boy doesn't have to do ANYTHING but say he feels like a girl to play against the girls. Pathetic!

You left out "/neuter", which is more important to" women's" track teams.

Good time to only have a human category. Equal pay for equal work. Why should a 11 seconds 100 human (women) get more than a 10.5 100m human (men). Thats sexist

we are definitely living in some bizarre times...

As a parent:

- I'd be very upset if my cis gendered female kid didn't make finals as she was kept from a spot due to another girl running on PEDs or a used to be a boy now running as a girl. They're both not monitored. A coach from another sport told me he had little doubt that age group kids were being given PEDs by their parents. At the end of the day, the girl kids who lost to the boy running as a girl kid knows what's what. I draw the line at that kid running as a girl setting a record.

- were it my kid who was confused , or even certain , that they were a girl in a boys body, I'd first prohibit them from making any irreversible decisions, or take any drugs, until they were an adult. That kinda removes the worry about HS. Then I'd insist that - presuming I had a say in my adult kids life - that my kid compete in prelims but not unfairly take the spot of a non drugged kid until the rules were met. And, even then, it doesn't seem fair.

lets disadvantage 99% of competitors for the sake of being 100% inclusive.

female sport is doomed.
