What's wrong with straight men? Not every guy is going to want to get into your daughters pants. Even if they do, any who aren't psycopaths are more likely to defend her than rape her.

No she wasn’t, and now this kid’s life is ruined. Y’all need to stop going on what you read in the newspapers. The articles on the kid were nothing but clickbait. Had he done all those things he would have been charged right away. The kids was never charged with a crime, as a matter of fact the case was dismissed by the state. Lazy detective work and even lazier reporting claims another innocent kids life.
He’s not in jail because the district attorney did her own detective work and it turned out that the girl did not tell the truth to the detectives. That is why he was never charged and judge dismissed the case. The news media never reported the dismissed charges, which is a shame for this kid. Anyone with access to publi records could have seen this info and not tried to continue to attempt to ruin an innocent kid’s life. So sad....

Nope, Harvey Weinstein, the poster boy for the Me Too movements has had his life and career destroyed because of the PR and Me Too backlash. Sexual harassment also happens to be illegal. People do not have to VOLUNTARILY change their behavior. Harassers/rapists probably less so than anyone else. It must be imposed upon them, either through legal means or PR/Me Too.
The advice still stands. I didn't judge the young man, I judge all of humanity and find it lacking. Girls should be taught to protect themselves and stop relying on the word "no" or the law to protect them. Guys intent on doing wrong don't care about either thing. I am glad this young man is innocent of these charges. The lesson for guys out there is to protect themselves from false charges by not putting themselves in compromising situations where it is your word against hers. This is very important in the #MeToo era. I hope this young girl never does this to another guy and that she gets the help she needs.
Oh really ... can you prove this? You're probably the kid's dad or something.

There's another layer to the confession - it's not like the guy confessed to police. The "confession" is a presumably unauthenticated recording. I also highly doubt the phone has been turned over to the media, so in this story, we're dealing with what someone has SAID is on that phone, and we don't know who that person is or what their motives are.
Further, there may be issues in proving whether it's actually him admitting to it, or whether it's someone else -- and this is assuming that the "confession" even exists. I find this "confession" a little bizarre -- it almost sounds made up. We also don't know who the other "party-goers" were. Were they really neutral observers? Or friends of the girl? Or some mixture of both?
I'm not saying it didn't happen, but it's clearly not as simple as this guy "confessed" and then was never charged. There are clearly some problems, at least in proof, or else there would have been charges filed. It would have been really easy to do a phone dump and then subpoena phone records in an effort to prove this guy admitted to it.
Though, in this day and age, too many unethical journalists only care about writing a good story or feeding a narrative for page views or profit. Who cares about verifying facts if there's money to be made, after all? Who cares about ruining a seventeen-year-old juvenile's life if we can make a pretty penny off of it? Again, I'm not saying it didn't happen, but clearly this case has problems, and there was a massive rush to judgment by the media.
I get that the First Amendment's important and all, but I don't know how some journalists sleep at night. It's truly amazing how often journalists jump up and down to report someone being arrested on a serious offense, but when charges are dismissed, you won't hear a peep from those same journalists -- they're already on to the next "story."
As a matter of fact no I’m not the kids dad...I am just an avid follower of track and field, but am also fortunate enough to work in a profession that allows me access to the public records for legal cases such as this. At a preliminary hearing in November their was a joint motion to dismiss charges. It was officially recorded in December as part of the public record. Speaking as someone who sees a lot of these types of cases, had the kid truly been guilty of what was initially reported then he would have been charged straight away. The fact that he was never formally charged with the crime or arraigned on charges tells me that there was way more to the story then was originally detailed. There was obviously some further investigation done on the district attorneys part for her to take the course of action she did. Remember when you typically read a police report you are only getting one side of the story, and if you look at the report the kid was never interviewed by police.
