It was just announced by the pittsburgh half marathon that jorgenson will be debuting there on may 6. Only a couple weeks away. Predictions? What's the over/under? 70:00?

72 and change.
I think CIM in December would be the perfect place for her BTC marathon debut (I'm pretending her NYC race never happened). US championship, predictable weather, fast course. She needs to race.

pittsburgh is a hilly city. is the the course hilly? (can't seem to find much info on the race website)
i bet she runs well if it's a fair course. around 1:10 flat +/-
The half course isn't terribly hilly. One decent hill around the 11 mile mark and it can be windy on the bridges. It's a fair course.
This event is the USATF Half Marathon Champs in 2018 so the field should be solid.
Not sure who else is entered (USATF website is useless).
Course has some hills, it changed this year to reduce the # of bridge crossings which should make it faster.
Hard to predict a time but I think she places top three no matter who shows up...assuming those who did Boston + Hasay don't show up.
And to the person who suggested a 72min time...I'd say she's good for much better than that. She went through halfway at NYC 2016 in 75:xx off of like 40 mpw, supposedly feeling like marathon pace. SO she was probably good for at least a 73 back then.
I think 70:xx because I doubt the race will go out that fast. official guess 70:21
70:18
She should be running her weakest event, the marathon, instead of screwing around with shorter distances.
They're fine between marathons for marathon training, but not to the exclusion of them.
Her track PRs are a bit slower than mine and I ran 69:30 (albeit on a flat, fast course).
Assuming she's training specifically for the 1/2 I say she runs 69:50.

Indeed. She should be doing 100K jogs around Mt Fuji with Yuki.

she is not ready for marathon. Because of the achilles tendon problems she has been able to run 80mpw. She wants to get the training volume up to 120mpw. Therefore she not running any marathon yet.
Agreed. Ran the Pittsburgh Marathon twice, the half once. My Strava activity from the half only shows 310ft elevation gain.
Don't have much of a prediction. I'll be rooting for sub-73 minutes to get the OTQ out of the way.
The OTQ window starts later in the year.
For the HM that is. September I believe.

Oh, you're right. My mistake.

80 mpw is what Steve Jones averaged.

The new half course is more runner friendly. The course up to 2 years ago, not so much. Miles 8-11 are flat running through the South Side on East Carson St, and the Mile 11 Birmingham Bridge is steep enough to hurt, but after you cross the bridge, the last mile and change is "easier" to find a rhythm without the sudden hill climb that was at mile 12.
I like the predictions that she'll run in the 1:10's, that's my pick too - low to mid 1:10's. Depending on weather and the field of course (and how hard the field takes out the race).

I've lived in PGH for years - new half course that debuted last year (as a test for this year's USATF half championship) is much better. The full marathon keeps going up to the 13-14 mile mark, but I'd guess around a ~20-30s max from the Birmingham Bridge. From mile 12 to the finish is a nice strong downhill.
