This is an interesting case. Some things don't add up.
McSAlly was attending an all-girls school. She was #1
in her class and a would-be USAF Acad appointment.
Does this sound like a "type" that could be coerced into
a sexual relationship?
I'm not saying I disbelieve her. The circumstances
sound questionable. Sort of like her annulled marriage.

There is no "type" that gets abused in this way. Pathetic attempt to blame the victim.
Why is the Air Force still considered the military?
.... to blame the victim

not blaming anyone, anymore than I'd
blame someone for annulling a marriage.
All situations aren't the same...far from it.
This one is odd. You are capable of getting
that I presume?
McSAlly who is not an Az native wants this
to be talked about now. I think it's fair to
say she sees advantages in releasing this
information at this particular time.

Because it is.

Because aircraft are still used for bombing raids and reconnaissance.

From time to time, there has been a debate: Should US disband USMC? USMC cost-wise is a bargain for US. US Air Force should be folded back into US Army. US Air Corps was fine during WW1 & WW2. No need for US Department of Air Force. Too much! Too expensive.

THAT'S what you took away from the story.

My first thought before reading the article was "a female coach could have sexually abused her", but then I read the story and it is a male coach she is accusing.
All girls schools sometimes have male coaches.
Many highly successful people can be manipulated in this way especially by someone in a position of power/trust like, say, a coach...
Many highly successful people
Maybe she was "manipulated" into getting married as well. Instead of just divorce she went for the annulment (aka the Catholic payoff). Does that tell you anything?
McSAlly is a RW'er who is in a primary against a far-RW'er. She needs educated white women in her corner. I'm guesssing the timing is not coincidental.

I am not sure what the annulment should be telling me. Do not really care. My guess is that she wants the church to recognize her next marriage thus the annulment. Her being divorced or annulled matters not to me.
what the annulment should be telling me.
An annulment (civil) is supposed to tell you that either a person was drunk, already married, too young, diseased, or mentally incapacitated when marrying.
So McSAlly --an A-10 Warthog pilot--is telling you that she shouldn't have had sex and (years later) she shouldn't have got married. That she did was someone else's fault.

When I was 14, this commentator sexually abused me.
Seriously LetsRun? This is where we're landing on this?
"She's smart, so she couldn't have been abused?"
That's insane. Think about the smart people you know now. Now think about them at age 17. You seriously don't think any of them could have been coerced into something? Some adult made them think it was a rebellious act that was their idea?
There are (unfortunately) probably a dozen "pick up artists" reading this right now and thinking, "that sounds like a good plan." For the sake of the rest of us, don't.

Pick up artists are either scammers or deluded. Even the best PUAs have success rates of around 1%, which is about what you'd expect from the average male walking up to random females in the street and asking for sex. Also, their success rate with attractive, smart 17 year old girls would be much less than 1%. That's because most 17 year old girls, whose bodies and brains are fully developed (unlike boys of the same age) are well aware of their sexual market value and can't be tricked with a lolipop or a bag of sweets by their lecherous balding middled-aged coach, as only an imbecile could imagine.
17 year olds are increasingly given the vote anyway, so why are we pretending at the same time they are innocent children who can easily be swayed into sex?
