Hi all,
I'm a complete beginner and I am a little unsure about what I should focus on during my trainings. I'll try to keep it short to not waste too much of your time !
I just ran my first marathon in 4 hours. The course was very easy and the conditions were optimal.
Some things felt extremely easy, one thing felt really hard.
Starting with the easy:
Felt full of energy throughout the race and throughout the day, wasn't tired the next day either and I didn't feel the need to sleep more than usual.
I wasn't breathing heavily at all, I could have had a 4 hour long conversation with no problem whatsoever.
I didn't monitor my heartrate, but it felt really really slow, like it was barely more than my heartrate when I walk.
However, my legs were very heavy very soon and felt like they were dying for the last 10k. Even walking was definitely a struggle for the following 48 hours.
I completed a half marathon with less training in around 1h30 last year and it was a similar challenge (not out of breath, plenty of energy, painful heavy legs very soon) but to a lesser extend.
So again, I'm wondering what I should work on, will a simple increase in volume do the trick ? Also wondering whether I should've just gone faster.
Thanks for your input, looking forward to improving :D
