An overly fast start may squash any hopes of a WR, but it does not kill excitement.
How can anyone who didn't just start following running last week see nine guys go through 5K of a marathon in 13:46 and find that BORING?
There is a huge difference between the best strategy for a WR or even a win and the most entertaining way to run.
Seriously, how many people here do you think would turn on the TV, see that a pack of nine had passed through 10K of a major marathon in 28:19, and say, "Eh, not worth watching" as they surfed on to a different station?
