In the recent edition of "Nuts and Seeds" I read that a gluten-free diet can confer enormous benefits to most of the population. The peer-reviewed article revealed that the rising incidence of inflammatory bowel diseases and the well documented decline of IQ-levels of western populations are a direct consequence of a diet rich in gluten.
My competitive years are long over, however, my daughter just started steeplechase and I wonder if the gluten-free diet - which my wife and I already adopted - might be detrimental to her training, should she wish to adopt it too (we don't pressure her, even though she's overweight).
