That's the first thing I thought when I woke up.
Are they arm warmers or some new aerodynamic thing?

They're saturated with EPO.

Why is Mo Farah wearing arm warmers in 70 degree heat?
Because that's what champions do.
someone said it was to hide the injections, funny but doesnt make sense.
Like his old teammate Rupp, he is extremely sensitive to "hypothermia" and needs to wear more than everyone around him in order to avoid a DNF.

Maybe they aren't arm warmers but compression sleeves. He may feel that helps with fatigue. Calf compression sleeves aren't that warm.
Maybe to shield his skin from the sun. Even if an extra layer should be warmer, it's common for ultrarunners running very hot and sunny races to have their arms covered.
Maybe it increases sweat rate and helps him cool his body temperature.

Was that really necessary?

I think elbow sleeves assist in keeping good arm position--like the weightlifters sleeves.
Surely that's completely obvious - so they can sell thousands of them to hobbyjoggers at the next World Marathon Series Expo...

No. But it was funny!

No, he had plenty in him already. But better safe than sorry.
He's a a motrosexual.

Funny to you but not to him! Sir Farah doesn't take too kindly to people accusing him of doping.
Did MF douse his sleeves w/water at any of the aid stations? Just wondering if the sleeves were an attempt to cool his arms (much like a wet hat on a hot run)..

He couldn't figure out how to get water into his face hole there is no way he could spare some for his arms.

This is most likely the reason.
If Mr. Farah had won and beaten the unbeatable Eliud Kipchoge then many would be placing orders for those compression sleeves.

No, he's not going to do that just to appease a sponsor. He's far too much of a prima donna for that. He has them on in the majority of his training pics from Sululta as well. Strange thing.

Compression sleeves on your arms. How would that help with fatigue? How fatigued do your lower arms get during a marathon?
Shield his skin? 70 degrees isn't THAT hot. Ultrarunners are on the course for 20+ hours. Farah was on the course for 2.
Your last point might be feasible, but it contradicts your first point (that they are of thin material like compression socks and wouldn't cause him to heat up and sweat).

It's a distraction. Distraction from what, you say?
Distraction from the video that has Mo's training partner purchasing EPO and mentioning the name "Mo Farah" clear as a new syringe.
I believe Dibaba's recent diarrhea exit was a similar tactic.
