I was wondering if anybody could provide some links or ideas for a workout plan with distances and paces that could help me to a sub 5 mile. My PR right now is 5:39, and I'm hoping by outdoor winter track next year (I think the first meet is in January) that I could get to at least the 5:00-5:10 range, and then hopefully by the end of season meets and finals I can get into the 4:50s, which just might give me a shot at qualifying for state (I'd probably need to be in the 4:40s to be significant at state though, but I have time--next year is just my sophmore year). I'm also trying to go sub-18 5k by the end of November for XC, so I have to find a way to balance training for the two. I think I'm a bit better at endurance--my 3200m PR is 11:48. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
