Considering your conditions so far, that ain’t too bad bud. What you need to do is listen to your coach, though. It’s too late in a season to drastically change training, but if he says 5 mi cool down, do it. If he says 1, do it. If you’re completely healthy, I would try 15 min runs in the morning at truly easy pace (maybe 8:30 ish, but whatever feels like you could go for hours) just to add a little mileage in, 14 mpw, until 1 week out from your last race. Switch it up, run a 1600, 3200, or 400. Lastly, tell yourself you’re gonna go 2:15 every day. If you say “I’m so slow” or “I can’t break 2:20” in your head, immediately say “no, I WILL run 2:15” every time or it won’t work. Visualize your race. Get in the right mood. Don’t say “oh, here comes another 2:20...” before a race, day “man, I’m gonna get this and I’m gonna get this good. 2:15 for sure” and just seriously do the workouts AND the cool downs and easy days EASY! Hard days HARD! You can do it man, I was stuck in a rut too, right around the same times, and later that season I dropped a 2:10... hard work pays off. You can do it.
