This thread would be lot easier to follow if the same dude with a musk aversion would stick with one name.
Musk is already rich as Midas. He’s not trying to get richer, he’s trying to change the world (for the better). Is he an egomaniac? Probably yes. But let’s have a few more like him, and a few less like Trump and Pruitt. You may now feel free to compare me to Hitler in incoherent non-sentences.
So many clueless people
1) production was not shut down indefinitely, it’s for 3-5 days for production updates. They did this end of Feb as well and then ramped to 2k cars/week which they maintained for 3 weeks straight before this recent shutdown peaking at 2,200. They have another update late May and they’ll go from 16*7 to 24*7 adding 50% more resource. 5-6k is doable.
2) they have no competition because nobody else has a good charging system. They are years ahead
3) they will kill it in solar. They refocused and are now starting to install roofs which will be highly lucrative for Tesla and anyone who installs them. Huge cash flow for customers in most states and is a big differentiate between polarizing panels which many hate.
4) energy storage is taking off for them
5) battery degradation has been shown to be almost non-existent for Tesla, whereas competitors it’s horrible.
6) they have the #1 selling luxury sedan and 4/5 luxury SUV, and a big profit maker despite any poor accounting analysis you read that couples in expenses related to their M3 ramp up and depreciation from things that have nothing to do with the S or X.
7) pre-orders for M3 greater than 500k without advertising, seeing the car, driving the car....and waiting 18+ months is earth shattering and unprecedented. Idiots compare them to Delorian who sold like 7k cars total and CEO transported heroin.
8) Model S/X are getting unprecedented demand likely from the attention they are getting. They will start picking up production by 10% and aim for 110k instead of 100k
9) China is dropping the import tax. The S sells amazingly there despite being insanely expensive due to taxes....they will be much more addircvkd now and the M3 demand could double now that it’ll be affordable and their production there can move forward without co-ownership of factories.
In terms of US car sales of luxury sedan, the Tesla model S sells almost twice as many units as the #2 model (the Mercedes S class)
28.8K units for the Tesla model S vs 15.9K units for the Mercedes S class in 2017.
Wait a few months and the Model 3 will also dominate
Elon Musk is just a big scammer.
He distracts with rockets and his boring company.
It's one thing to make big announcements and another to make things happen. As it turns out, it's a lot more difficult to build cars than he thought ("production hell")
Soon Tesla will run out of money and the show will be over.
I don’t care if they drive on water and fly. The car is ugly and pretentious people drive them.
They also suk in snow. My neighbor has one (used) and claims it needs nothing yet was scrambling to get service for some recent recall. 3 hrs is the closest dealer. Good luck with that! I suppose it makes them feel like their carbon footprint is smaller when they fly off to some island for seasonal sun disorder care 3 times each winter. They also have a sign on their front yard about muslin friends that keeps getting stolen and transported to the local universities quad. Grow some you freakin liberals. Get something with all wheel drive, get to work and start running in the cold and your “disorder” will go away.

Then he is crazy.
The major car companies have already lost this one. They dragged their feet on electric, even tried to stop it, and are now far behind.
But more importantly, oil is done.
And was never worth endless war.
Tesla has had a lot of problems recently, but I believe in Elon Musk and his ability to fix it, he already addressed a large issue in the over-automation of the production line and how complex it was. This is a guy who became SpaceX's chief engineer simply because nobody else who was qualified would apply for the job, if he can learn how to build rockets with no formal education and build one of the most valuable private companies in the world near single handily, fixing a production line is hardly outside of his abilities.

Thats what everyone thought when he started spacex, woah and behold we now have falcon heavy launches scheduled for this year after a successful test and construction on the BFR rocket factory has already begun
Just rubbish.
I will bet my right arm that the best selling luxury sedan in America is a Mercedes or BMW without researching anything.
Tesla's batteries degrade. All lithium ion/polymer based batteries degrade. It's in their chemistry, they all degrade severely through the charging and discharging cycles.
And none of those things that you or Musk say will happen regarding production rates or 'killing it in solar' will happen. It's just fantasy predictions

You are making the rather extreme assumption that only one LRC member dislikes Musk. That aside, he really isn't well-equipped to 'change the world' (what a meaningless phrase, by the way). His company has been hemorrhaging cash since it's founding in 2003, and there is no prospect of that changing any time soon. Even Amazon took far less time to turn a profit, despite its somewhat different investment/reinvestment strategy. Musk's loony and strikingly ill-informed ideas about 'changing the world' are all well and good, as long as his company is looked after. I urge you to look at their financials and craft a story about Musk being anything but extremely irresponsible to his shareholders. Fix the company, then rant on about whatever you want. Nice try to take this into a political bent, by the way. You're far less slick than you think.
*since its founding
You can say "change the world" is a meaningless phrase if you like, so let's narrow it down to portions of the worlds.
1) Whether or not Tesla goes bankrupt, it has changed the automotive world by getting out in front with electric cars, while other companies were dragging their feet, or actively opposing them. All the other electric cats cited are here as soon as they are due to Musk forcing the issue.
2) Musk has also changed the world of battery manufacturing, and the fact that China is going to build a bigger battery factory is also, in large part, due to Musk's vision and effort. (Yes, major advances in battery technology are still required.)
3) But his largest impact by far is on the space industry. The advances in re-usable rockets alone would be enough to make the point. But it is the fact that they build over 90% of the rocket under one roof is what is causing the price of launch to drop so much. The old model of cost plus, so no incentive to control costs, has been demolished by SpaceX.
Maybe Musk is a megalomaniac, maybe Tesla will fail financially, but claiming he hasn't "changed the world" requires a strong case of willful ignorance of the facts.
Oh, and if you really don't think this obsessive hatred of Musk includes a political bent, when Musk is doing much of what he does because he believes the facts on man-made global climate change, then that is just another example of a willing ignorance - perhaps denial is a better word - of the facts.
The genius of Elon Musk can be found here on page 38 of the Tesla Annual Report. Mr. Musk has been able to dupe investors thru shareholder delusion, rising debt levels and losing more money each year. Don’t forget he rolled up the failed Solar City into this larger Ponzi scheme.

I’ll let you keep your right arm as you’re wrong, some argue it’s not a large luxury sedan but it’s closer to a large than a medium (where it’d be #2). They accomplish this with sales restrictions, longer wait times and all the challenges that come with electric cars (which they’ve drastically eleviated)
https://www.autoblog.com/2016/10/14/tesla-model-s-best-selling-us-luxury-sedan/The Model S sales were almost double the sales figures for the No. 2 US luxury sedan, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and more than double the sales of the BMW 7-Series. No other model moved more than 2,000 units during the quarter. In all, the Model S accounted for almost a third of the country's third-quarter large luxury sedan market, which also includes models from Audi, Lexus, Porsche, Jaguar, and Maserati.

Here’s a fool who just regurgitates stupidity he reads. Everyone with a brain knows the show is just getting started.
Don't confuse Luxury Car with Luxury Sedan. When it comes to the overall luxury vehicle market Tesla can't keep up, yet.
These are more reliable sources of vehicle sales data versus that other site.

What show? Bankruptcy?
There is nothing there. Elon Musk is the emperor with no clothes.
Hey Nostradamus. Production has restarted. Weekly production now up to 2,556 cars per week. On track to building 3,000 per week. I am expecting them to be in the top 20 selling cars in the US in April.
