Is there any girl in California who can beat Maddy Denner in the mile this year at state? It’s a very strong year for California. Upset possibilities?
McKenna Brown
Victoria Gaitan
Mariah Castillo
Any others?

Mari Friedman of Santa Cruz beat Denner in the 1600 at Stanford (order of finish was Brown, Friedman, Denner). So add Friedman to the list. Friedman has run 2:09 and 4:47 so far this season. Also, Gillian Wagner of Redwood High School in Marin has run 2:14 and 4:50, and was 4th behind Denner in that Stanford race. That Stanford race was loaded with top California girls and was a stronger, deeper field than the Arcadia mile. 7 girls under 4:55 and 13 under 5:00. Many of those girls could be upset possibilities. Also, Meagen Lowe of Buchanan ran 4:49 recently.

Can't think of anyone else. Nice list.
A few wildcards. The two unknown freshmen Mia Barnett 4:52 1600M and Audrey Suarez. Below the radar and may have more upside still. Both did well at Arcadia.
Will we see a return to form from Amber Jackson from Forest Lake Christian who ran 4:52 last season? Any word on Riley Bowen? The Davis girl hurt again? Is Elena Denner going to run the 1600 at state? Norcal distance will of course decide the title again this year.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
