The guy looks great when running, excellent bio mechanics, and very good body structure. He credits becoming a fruitarian several years ago to loeering his thon time from 2.45 to 2.28. Actually, looking at his form and speed, he looks like he could nail a 2.20 -2.25 marathon, sub elite.
The question I have is two fold. First, how healthy is a fruitarian diet, long term. He eats around 5000 calories or more of fruit per day. Crazy numbers, but how healthy is eating all that sugar in fruit, even though it is 'natural'?
Also, the cost would be prohibitive for most people. Go to YouTube, you will see Arnstein has to buy his fruit at a Chinese wholesalers in Brooklyn. The owners there assume he has a fruit store, hilarious !
Secondly, can this type of fruit diet, and some raw veggies be sustained for life ?
It would be good to get some long term studies about fruitarians, and their health outcomes, long term, not just over 1-3 years.
