New Hayward Design is up.

Kinda a shame for those who hoped new Hayward would have some resemblance to the current stadium.

Very nice! Will be nice to finally have a modern facility.
The glulam roof system is great, however, I'm not so keen about the magnifying glass design. Could Hayward end up being one of the greatest architectural design blunders on par with the Walt Disney Concert Hall, or the Vdara Hotel? Have they really thought this one out?
I know that I'd hate to be a bug under a magnifying glass on a sunny day.

Love it. The #LA2028 building boom is on. The new Hayward Field is mighty cool.
Hate it. I don’t understand why they can’t refurbish Hayward and put in temporary seating for the WC’s. They are destroying history without a very good reason, imo. They shouldn’t rename it Hayward because it isn’t anymore. Name it Knight Field or Nike Field or something - let’s call it what it is. Glad I got to run there before this happens.
Based on some of the posts I've seen from you, I'm not surprised that you don't like change.
Absolutely disgusting. The one venue that has all the history of the sport of running. Imagine what would happen if the Red Sox or Cubs decided on tearing down Fenway or Wrigley. All you need to do is read Pre, and hear some of the stories about what the fans were like and how into the racing they were. I think this new design looks terrible, there is way too much going on and what is that little tower thing anyways? I'm honestly upset with Nike, Oregon, and USATF for destroying what little heritage we have with track.
I guess they should change the name from "Historic Hayward Field" to "Piece of shite, money grubbing whores Hayward Field"
Thanks! I’ve always assumed any post I make just gets ignored. It’s nice to be noticed!
Good I can't wait to watch them to turn Hayward Field into rubbish. When they bulldoze the current place I will gladly cheer them on in person and I'm guessing there's a large crowd would join me.
What's the capacity? That place would be packed for the big meets like Olympic Trials but I would hate to see a half empty stadium for NCAAs.
I love it but also kind of hate it at the same time sure it's kind of on par with other Oregon facilities which is awesome but I love old Hayward field too.
Perfect. I'd love to see Hayward Field remain on the NCAA/USATF/Olympic Trails rotation along with Drake, Sac St, Mt Sac, Texas, etc. Thanks to Mr Phil Knight.
I get a small European football club vibe from that stadium. With significantly more luxury boxes.
I guess if they are going to bulldoze Hayward, might as well bulldoze any and all resemblance to the old stadium.
Hayward has a similar appeal as Wrigley: it's a historical, charming, old, simple dump. No new stadium can re-create that atmosphere. I am sure well forget in time.

Eugene does have its share of hot days.
I expect this glass roof is treated in some way to handle glare and heat from the sun.
What's so offensive about the new design?

This is actually a great idea. We need some sort of procedure in place for renaming stuff when an a Phil Knight or other game changer comes along.
There is no one more influential in modern day T&F than Phil Knight. Night Field has a nice ring to it. Or maybe it could be Lannana's Luxury Boxes at Knight Stadium at Hayward Field brought to you by NIKE.
It's at Oregon and is change.

Like some sort of what? Looks like a big windshield to me. Does a windshield keep the Sun's rays out of your car or does it focus them?
