yet another reason why I have stopped watching ESPN wrote:
On ESPN.com, not one mention of Desi's victory in the Top Headlines.
This is an age-old and pointless complaint. A million years ago when I quit playing baseball and started having some success in cross country and track, I would lament ad nauseam the fact that "ball sports" got all the local media coverage while T&F results were included only in the small print on the next-to-last page of the newspaper's sports section.
I had previously been a big fan of football, basketball and baseball, but I took my bitterness to new heights and quit following every sport except running for the next 15 years. I missed a lot of notable sports performances and exploits during that time, and I truly regret walling myself off from everything non-running.
My point is that fringe sports enthusiasts should just accept the fact that no one...and I mean NO ONE...gives a rat's a$$ about sports like running/cycling/swimming/wrestling/etc. except runners, cyclists, swimmers, wrestlers and so on. Learn it...know it...live it...and move on.
