Hey all! Wondering if anyone out there suffered the same experience I did today.
Qualified for the Boston marathon (also a Boston local so I’m familiar with marathon Monday etc.) ran the race and was feeling great. Weather was undesirable but it wasn’t really torturing me. My mind seemed to be totally checked out for the race, couldn’t believe how fast the miles were ticking by.
Get to mile 20 and start feeling delirious. Light headed, nauseous , aware that I might pass out. I walk up heartbreak trying to regulate my breathing but my body was basically giving up on me. I went to a medic thinking maybe I needed food, because otherwise I felt fine, but my temperature came in at 90 degrees and I was hypothermic.
Did this happen to anyone else? Or a similar situation? I’m having a hard time dealing with the discouragement of it. I was so close and am by no means a quitter, but it kind of feels like my body failed me and I had no choice but to listen to it. I feel like I was so close to finishing but also left with zero options.
