Looking for a list of elites who dropped out in Boston today
Well at least among the East African elites, all dropped out but two.

If the post on the other thread is right, a shockingly large number of elites dropped out:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Da7P0WMVMAAKMol.jpg:largeWould guess that the Africans likely dropped out since they're absolutely not used to these weather conditions. Rupp has performed well in every other Marathon he has run, but they were all hot-weather Marathons (oddly that he does well in high-temperature conditions), so he probably suffered similarly to the Africans.

Thanks. It was a horrible day for all these athletes. There will be more races with better weather to come back. This was just a little set back.

Boo hoo. It's too cold. Boo hoo.
Hmm. The list seems incomplete? I don't see Sage Cannady on the list.

He wasn't in the elite field.
If Deena DNF'ed you know things were just horrific.

Like.
do they still get appearance $
What happened to Gladys Chesir? From the splits it looks like she got to 25.2 mi but then nothing. There was no coverage on her dropping out and it wasn't covered in the Letsrun wrap-up.
She was still in 3rd there ...
EVERY elite with a BMI < 19 dropped out. Pretty incredible stuff. You needed insulation to run well yesterday.
Nope. Rupp said before the race that weather wouldn't be a factor because where he lives and trains in Oregon it's always cold and rainy. Still waiting for an explanation from his camp for his DNF.
I also do not think the weather directly caused Rupps dnf. I also do not think BMI was a factor either. I had BMI like those Africans and I have run some fine races in those conditions or worse (I am Scottish!)
Good thing BMI has nothing to do with how much fat mass a person has. It's just body weight in kg divided by your ht in meters squared. Notice there's nothing in the formula about fat mass or body composition. A person with a BMI of 18 can have more fat weight (insulation) on them then a person with a BMI of 23. Highly overrated measurement. Good try on that theory though

Scots have balls, including my Auntie! Pathetic showing by so-called "elites" - any northeast U.S. cross country kid used to race and train in conditions just as bad, likewise tons of hobby joggers who came to the sport late.
Poor Ruppy & his "asthma"! Still doding New York too, I wonder why.
We have an article out on it.
For the elite pros invited by John Hancock, the drop out rates were incredibly high. The women dropped out at a lower rate than the men. 56.25% percent of the elite women (9/16) didn’t record a finish whereas 62.5% of the elite men (15/24) dropped out according to our calculations.

Note. THat's only for the John Hancock top tier elites. The BAA brings in a few as well.
Rojo, Scott Smith was not a DNF, he finished 6th.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
Ryan Eiler, 3rd American man at Boston, almost out of nowhere
