Rupp GAVE UP on the race. He through a hissy fit in the lobby screaming at reporters to get away from him. He is making nike look bad. I'm going to probably toss my zoom lt3's in the trash and pick up some asics like big boy Yuki.
Rupp is a failure.

Apart from the Al Sal influence, I'm surprised Nike hasn't released him. They gave Meb and Leo the boot, and they were both more marketable (and likeable) than Rupp.

Oh like most people didn’t DNF?

If you think that Rupp is ever being released then you don't know nuffin bout nuffin
Where can I find a video of him shrieking?
He cares nothing about what people think apparently as he does nothing to make people who follow running root for him. The mark of a true champion is to be cordial whether you have a good day or a bad day.
Impressed with Shalane today for being available after the race after a very disappointing day, good for her image.

I would also very much like to see this. He is an overgrown man-child who would rather quit than lose to someone who runs a better race than he did. He has one Major win under his belt against a watered down field. If he ever wants to win a race that isn't set up for him he's going to have to lose in the process. Look at what Shalane did in New York, taking down some of the best female marathoners ever. She had a bad day today, and despite being very public about her goal of winning, she stuck it out and finished the race.

You want a video of something that didn't happen?
I believe all Yuki has done...Is awakened a sleeping giant. :) Rupp will be back.

According to the post from the other thread, nearly every East African elite in the men's field dropped out. Guys like Bekele, Gebrselassie, Mutai, etc. also routinely dropped out of marathons. At the professional level, it makes absolutely no sense to go the full distance for a Marathon like this, where conditions are damaging, and there is no real benefit to actually finishing.
Rupp is an organism of Nike. He is intertwined with their DNA as is AlSal.

Oh yeah there are so marketable! All I see are eliptigos everywhere since meb started hawking them with his marketability. And those Leo the lion shirts are everywhere you go! Like able don’t mean crap..... just ask Tom Brady!
No, next question please.

When you say "overgrown man-child" you forgot it was your reflection in the mirror you saw, not Rupp . High School teams and kids who follow Track & Field love watching and following Rupp. Just because you're old ,fat and hate the ODP doesn't give you the right to make up stories. It just means you have no friends and it's not Rupp's fault you get paid minimum wage and take your anger out of the letsrun message boards.
Rupp NEVER says anything negative about anyone and is extremely positive! There is no reason for kids not to look up to him. Below are just a few things he has done since you don't think much of his accomplishments.
Rupp has run:
Indoor Mile in 3:50
5000: 12:58
10000m: 26:44
Indoor 3000m 7:30
Olympic Silver in 10000m, Bronze in the Marathon
1500m: 3:34
1st place at the Chicago Marathon
2nd at the Boston Marathon
9 outdoor 10000m USATF championships in a row
Indoor American record holder in the 3000m (7:30), Two Mile(8:07) and the 5000m (13:01)
Outdoor American record 10000m (26:44)
Half Marathon: 59:47
Marathon: 2:09
2x Indoor NCAA National Champion
2x outdoor NCAA National Champion
NCAA Cross Country National Champion

If Rupp were anything but a paleface you'd probably drop to your knees to help ease his pain. Ask yourself who taught you to hate your own. And don't tell us your not a pale ale, only sissified ghosts have thoughts like yours.

Given my choice of living another 65 years or dying the day after Nike drops Rupp, I'll pick the latter.

Obviously I was speaking about when they were still under Nike. They've clearly had to rebrand themselves since being released. Also, you never made a case for Rupp. You just dismissed my opinion.

You wouldn't be asking such a silly question if you knew the reason why Meb and leo got dropped. Read the above and you can see why Rupp is very marketable.
All the people here who tease Rupp about being a 2:09 guy must feel like it is Christmas or something. I've never seen so much excitement about his DNF. Maybe it is a good thing. It will distract people from teasing me. I get bullied so much here, so maybe things will calm down for me.
