This is apt punishment for being cowards and not racing the very best in London.

The crazy part is not a single one of the 8 elite Ethiopians finished, and only 2 of the 11 elite Kenyans finished (Kirui and Edna Kiplagat)
Cos they got paid to start. Not to finish.

I don't buy the asthma excuse for Rupp's DNF. He's had the condition his entire professional career, perhaps longer and not once was his "asthma" responsible for a DNS/DNF. Not once, in 5 marathons and countless track races.
If not certified, Rupp fails wrote:

Post of the day.
Exactly! Kinda like Rocky IV. Rupp is like Ivan Drago but looked like Peter Pan, controlled weather conditions, sterile environment and white lab coats. Rocky trained in the harshest conditions, outdoors, blue collar training indeed. Rupp wilted like a Peter Pan begging for pixie dust.
Make that two best posts of the day.

Boston's weather was a fluke and it dictated the whole race. Neither Yuki now Desi will ever win a major again,
What if the next race has miserable conditions? Oh, but, wait it's not the right race at the right time, so they are nothing more than hobbyjoggers.
Faulting someone for not winning the "right" races in times that please you isn't actually a thing.
It is truly amazing how many people think using the word ‘devastated’ is funny. And you wonder why people think distance runners are geeky dorks?
It wasn’t even funny the first time somebody used it. Finding out a child has died, that is devastating.

Your write.
I will say that this was definitely a heroic performance by both Yuki and Desi.

But sometimes that's hilarious too.

All of his other marathons have been pretty warm, so it is unlikely that they would have triggered asthma problems.
His asthma has caused him problems in cold races in the past, but they have generally been unimportant or shorter races, so it wasn't a huge deal to slog it in to the finish in 10th place or whatever. It's a little different in a 2+ hour race.

Bad weather conditions like that can intensify it. I thought my child hood asthma was gone until I did a mile race in freezing cold. Luckily runner friend near by had an inhaler
He actually ran his goal in this race which was to break the American Record, but Chris just ran faster on the day then he did. Both of them and Sam had great races that day with two guys under the American record and the NCAA record being set in that race. Rupp ran great CS ran even better that day.
Rupp is a beast plain and simple who cares if he had one bad races almost everyone does at least once in their life haters will hate oh well best of luck to Rupp in the Future and GO DUCKS

So my Dad ran today and called me via phone. He did say he just wanted to beat Galen. So now he is just killin me, with how his tactical plan got him the win over Galen. He says at the half way point he was behind Galen by an HOUR. However, that was his plan, staying back till Galen tired and came back to him. Galen knew my old dad was stalking him about an hour back. So now my dad says his tactics proved good as he finished in 3hrs 44minutes. Told him everyone who finished beat Galen, but he says it was HIS relentless pursuit that wore Galen down. Then he says DID YOU ever beat Galen? Oh man, he is gonna needle me like this forever.
Meanwhile, this is the dumbest post by far.
Even more devastated than Rupp. Back to the Nairobi pharmacy for stronger stuff!

You must be new to these boards.
...."Moran", "Leg velocity", and running on fast on "pure hate" will show up with devastating amounts of sarcasm around here.

+1. Jamin is a full fledged retard.
Agreed.
He looks like he should be fishing off Key West, not running a marathon. Nothing "gangsta" or "cool" about that look.

Your father is an absolute legend! And he is right. He is probably 1-0 against Galen. Pity there no RoadBot.
RoadBot! Compare Eatenit!'s dad vs Galen Rupp
If there is real evidence verified by external analysis and/or confessions of doping by Rupp, I would absolutely not support him, and his whole career would be tainted, just as it is with pro cyclists.
As far as my remark about Des and Yuki not winning another major, I don't see anything crazy about that. Boston offered a unique opportunity and they were strong enough and smart enough to take advantage of it and take the well-deserved wins. I just don't think either of them going forward will have more marathons play out like Boston did.
