5k was a bust. 16:30, or 30 seconds slower than goal.
Splits were something like 5:08 (on pace), 5:18 (10k goal pace), 5:28 (tempo territory).
Had people to run with (got 7th). A bit windy, but upper 50s, so weather wasn’t that bad.
Maybe I’m just still sick. Have a pretty ugly chest cough. My head and chest feel like I ran a 5k, but my legs are fresh.
Maybe it’s because I’m training through (should hit 70), looking towards a 10k in a month, and a fall marathon.
Or maybe it’s just an off day. Junior year in college, my one 1500m race was slower than all three of my 3000m races. Never had a good explanation.
