Idk the other poster's reasoning for the differences in rest, but heres my take:
The 30 second rest is more of a speed endurance workout. It's more about practicing running fast while very tired. Buffering lactic acid, etc. It's not necceasrily super specific to a certain pace, more as just a general workout for mid distance fitness.
The 1 minute rest is something that could more closely be done at 800m pace. These rests are also short, but not so short that you can't recover enough to run at 800m pace. So with the 1 minute rest, the workout is more specific to 800m pace. Both workouts will improve speed endurance and lactic acid buffering etc, but the 1 minute rest is sufficient enough to practice some faster running while still tired.
Yeah the 30 seconds rest was for it to be more of a speed endurance day as I’m kinda lacking in that department(as you can see my second set was slower!)
To answer the other guy, I believe taking a minute rest(which if you see my first post i did do 200s with a minute rest) was more geared towards my current 800m date pace.
The plan is to get stronger so that my speed endurance 200s can closer resemble my 800 pace stuff
So my next workout I’m thinking about doing 8x2x200 w/ 30 seconds rest between each and 1 min rest between sets. So essentially I’ll be doing 16 200s alternating 30/60 seconds rest between each and trying to hit 800m pace(27-29)
