If she is healthy, Jordan will not be a surprise to me. She either wins or place top 2 after a Kenyan.

Mark my words as if I was a prophet , Jordan will win Olympic gold 2020, that good she is.
As I said years ago, Jordan was always suited for long distance like the 10000m. But she is evenb better in the marathon. She may never approach Paula's and other sub 2:18 marathoners in 5000m/1000m but she will eventually in the marathon. Yeah she capable of 2:16-17 maybe better before career end if she stays healthy...dont be surprised anymore experts and fans. May not be this year but before she hits 32 and still have a few years in her legs.
I totally agree!
Now watch Edna repeat..lol!

As reported by Salazar, Jordan is in sub 2:20 shape; therefore, regardless of the weather I dont see her letting go out slower at the half than 1:11. If the weather is decent the Kenyans will force the pace and that will benefit Jordan.
If Jordan is truly fit she can outrun Molly and Shalane in the marathon. She found her distance now and will ultimately run sub 2:18. I hope all four have a great Boston, if fit I see Jordan popping a 2:20 high-21 low and first American but outkicked by one African.
Even as a Hasay's fan, I think Sub 2:18 is a bit too optimistic, but if she manages to stay healthy, she definitely will get the AR.

If it’s fast from the gun, I gotta go with Jordan. If it’s a slow race with a faster finish(last 10k), huddle. If it’s an honest first half and they surge at the half way point, I believe shalane can put enough distance on the other two so they don’t catch her.
^this
What marathon time do you think an female runners needs to be able to run to compete at the international level?

Huddle is somewhere in the range of 15-0 heads up against Hasay all time. Don't expect that to change on Monday.
220 is faster than 228. Why is it so hard to comprehend for some people?
This is the issue at hand. Neither Molly or Shalane can run 2:20-2:21 anywhere. Weather can also play a factor with over 1/2 inch of rain and east winds expected [as of today] for Race Day.
Rain means more tactical pacing IMHO. This helps Shalane and Molly.
So---Jordan needs too run "for time" even in bad weather to tire out the other 2.
Thoughts?
Molly runs like Mary Keitany and can crush a race at her own pace. Conditions for this marathon could very well end up being the worst conditions we have seen in a major marathon in a long time. You can't run fast from the start or you would have to be very brave to do so. If they run in a pack this race plays to runners like Edna and Shalane. If Huddle is still in it with a few miles to go, then you have to pick her over Hasay or Linden if they're nearby. With a slow pace Edna, Shalane, and Molly are your favorite with Jordan and Desi very capable of finishing less than a minute back.
If any of these girls says, "F--- it," and just runs from the front straight into the rain I will cheer for that person even if they implode by 20 miles. That weather forecast has to have everyone afraid and expecting a slow pack.
Ain’t that the truth!!!

How old was Galen when that form said he took testosterone? Teens?
Jordan Hasay is nice and all, but she's given us little reason to think she can win on the international level. She can certainly compete, but Huddle routinely beats her. And as old as Shalane is, Hasay has done precisely zero to make us think Shalane won't destroy her over the final 10k if they are still in it together at that point.
What I would like is for non-NOP appointed phenoms to continue to show up and win so that the average up and coming American runner feels like they can still realize their potential even if they aren't training with Salazar.
Huddle never beat Hasay on the full 26.2 distance, that’s a fact. Based on their 26.2 times, my hard earned money is on Hasay.
Say it again. If all three have,a,great day, my money would still go on Hasay. She may not have the others experience but her TIMES/PERFORMANCES prove she is the one to beat among U.S female marathoners. I maybe wrong but I doubt it, we shall see soon.
Neither of them will win. True story.
I'd rather Huddle or Flanagan be the top American, but I'd put money on Hasay.
Rupp will probably win, and I will feel ambivalent.
Huddle, Flanagan, and Hasay all have a very good chance of winning. To me any of those 3 have to be just a big a favorite as the foreigners. Would love to see a 1, 2, 3 finish OMG!!! Don't forget about Desi being top 5.

Even when she was a 1500m/miler in high school I thought Jordan should have been a 10000m runner. By 25 I thought she could have been down to 30:30 but it seems even I didn't have a clue the longer she goes the better she gets. Over 26.2 I think a healthy and fit Jordan can compete and beat any American female more than they will beat her at the marathon distance.
If Jordan is,healthy Molly will have to run her best race of her lufe to beat Jordan if Jordan is on her A marathon game
Soon enough you’ll be thinking Jordan should be an ultra marathoner
Ultra is not an Olympic or World event and she has what it takes to be great at the marathon. So, no I don't think she should do ultras for 9-10 years.
If Shalane runs smart, this could be her day. She loves to push the pace, which could work against her. We'll see how she works it out.
Rupp, certainly an even chance to win. I'd love to see him do just that.
This is a great analysis of how it could go in different scenarios IMO.

Jordan would CRUSH Western States. She could probably go sub 15!!

I think Hasay will be one of those runners who peak early and decline as fast (before 2020). I don’t think a runner with a similar history will continue to progress. She was not an exceptional 5k/10k runner but her marathon performances are exceptional! I think she may be Desi Linden 2.0 but no Paula Radcliffe.
If she is the top American then I’ll admit that I’m likely wrong about her but I think both Huddle & Flanagan will beat her. It would be an amazing story if Flanagan won but she’s had her time in the sun. My prediction is Huddle-Flanagan-Hasay... I don’t think any of them will win but I hope one does.
